Trigger Words

Why is the term “discipline” such a trigger word when discussing the art and science of child-rearing? Similarly, the word “punishment” is considered almost unspeakable or abusive in the minds of so many. The reason is indoctrination.

Too many people in our culture have accepted what some so-called mental health professionals have now equated with violence and abuse. Yet as a society we have never tolerated nor endured more abuse and violence from our young people than today. When based on biblically sound principles and precedents punishment is not violence. It is the tougher albeit necessary side of love. Read Hebrews 12 in the Bible and discover something that used to be considered nothing more than common sense.
