On the surface, providing for your family seems like a noble goal.
However, I’d like to reveal one way that your motives in providing for your family may not be so pure.
Every day, I see affluent parents working hard to provide for their families’ material needs. Yet, I often wonder whether “family” really is the true motive, when it appears pride, ego and even greed are sadly too often the real incentive.
These same parents often put a greater emphasis on their kids’ grades than they do their kids’ character and righteousness—bringing sorrows unending. But, God isn’t looking for an “A” student. He’s looking for “a” student.
Proverbs 15:16 says, “Better a little with the fear of the Lord than great wealth with turmoil.” While verse 6 of Proverbs 15 says, “The house of the righteous contains great treasure, but the income of the wicked brings them trouble.”
