In our culture having an opinion is a freedom that some do not have, but learning the truth along with an opinion can help understand the objective conclusion.
Wisdom comes from listening, so in our society where opinions are aired more than truth, how are you teaching your kids to understand the difference between fact and opinion? Are you teaching them the ways of scripture to define truth?
Facts Over Feelings
Because of today’s proliferation of postmodern thinking more and more people are airing their own feelings based opinions. Fewer and fewer are taking pleasure in understanding the objective truth. Wise parents encourage their kids early on to learn, solve problems, and to come to conclusions and decisions based on understanding the objective truth about things not by mere feelings alone.
Proverbs 18:2 says, “A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions.” So don’t raise a fool to contribute to our society’s demise. Since a fool says in his heart there is no God, a foolproof way of not raising a fool is modeling to our kids the God of scripture.
