MORAL CHARACTER OVER CAREER 2 – Offering helpful insight to today’s Moms and Dads, here’s Trace Embry with License to Parent.
I hear so many well-intentioned parents who think that because their kids are aiming at higher education that, somehow, this makes them quality human beings – perhaps even a cut above the rest. But a good education and a high-paying position aren’t necessarily connected to the righteousness, peace, and joy that the Bible calls the Kingdom of God. Wouldn’t we prefer that our kids grow up to be honest and God-fearing men and women who love their work – regardless of how menial it may seem? I mean, a great income or education isn’t worth much if a person compromises his moral and spiritual convictions along the way. The Bible says, “For, what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his own soul?” As parents, we need to nurture our kids’ moral and spiritual qualities as a priority – not just an addendum to their professional goals.
