Don’t be ashamed to shame your kid.
Listen to today’s lesson to explain this post-modern quandary.
No Shame
As history repeats itself, like that found in Jeremiah 6, we become a people unashamed of our sinful activity. An America that doesn’t know how to blush anymore. Despite this, many in our society try to shame God-fearing parents into relinquishing the notion that shame could ever be a legitimate emotion for kids to feel. Given the right circumstances, of course.
How does this popular post-modern notion line up with scripture? In 1 Corinthians 6, Paul not only rebukes sinful adults in the church, but he actually says, ‘I say this to shame you.’ Let’s follow Paul’s example, and let no one shame you for making your child feel ashamed of his or her behavior.
