What can help your kids stay awake in church?
Here’s an idea for you to try.
Wake Up!
I’m amazed at the number of parents who think they are being too legalistic or invasive to demand that their kids stay awake during their pastor’s sermon.
Consider it an exercise in self-control. You aren’t being a bad parent for demanding this simple act of respect and discipline.
If Junior can’t seem to hold his head up on Sunday morning, that just might mean an earlier bedtime on Saturday night is needed. It may also mean no TV or video games the night before. And if the problem does become chronic, ask Junior if the next 1 hour of sleep during church is worth the next 157 hours without electronics so that he can stay awake the following Sunday.
