Verbal affirmations of love can be very important to young people. You can hug, support, and provide for your child all you want, but be aware that they still need and desire clear verbal affirmations that you love them.

Why Verbal Affirmations of Love are so Important to Kids

How often do you tell your kids that you love them? It is so easy in our hustle-bustle world to assume, neglect, or forget to say those three simple little words to our kids—I love you. Some just don’t or can’t say them.

Do not assume your kids know you love them. You may be in a season where you don’t even like your own kids. I assure you, telling them you love them on a regular basis just might solve more character and behavioral problems than you can imagine. Practice it in the mirror if you have to, but say it. They want and need to hear it from you. Do not make it so robotic and cavalier that it becomes routine and meaningless. Look your kids in the eye, and mean it.

"When I met the kids (at SHA), and saw the glow of transformation on their faces, it spoke to me that Shepherd's Hill Academy was more than 'Just what the doctor ordered.' It is a holistic, spiritual and therapeutic approach to healing that provides an atmosphere for learning and a proving ground for the uncompromising time-tested truths of scripture." - John Rosemond, American Columnist
