Making your kids work is not hurting them.
Work is good for them even if it is not comfortable.
Work Therapy
Work and the responsibilities and obligations that often accompany work are all vital to a person’s sense of belonging, identity, purpose, and overall emotional well-being. However, work is not always comfortable. I have noticed that for a variety of reasons today’s parents are often very reluctant to force their kids out of their comfort zones. Particularly when it comes to work and chores around the house. This is a terrible mistake.
Too much comfort is a breeding ground for lethargy, laziness, entitlement, and ingratitude. Someone once said, certainly the most effective road to hell is the comfortable one. So let’s stretch our kids by requiring more of them. That way everyone wins.
