Parents do everything they can to protect their children from bad influences. Most commonly, they are worried about their kids falling into the “wrong crowd.”
What if, however, the wrong crowd isn’t just a group to avoid in school? What if your kid’s biggest bad influence can be accessed right in your very home?
Culture and its Influence on American Youth
No parent wants their kids to be influenced by the “bad crowd,” so, we take intentional measures to prevent it. What we need to better understand, however, is that virtually our entire American culture is the bad crowd. Music, TV, internet, school, news, and social media—they’re all a part of today’s “bad crowd.” What’s more, they’re all influencing our kids—a lot.
Like any bad crowd, there’s always some very good, but misguided, people in these groups. But, if we’re not intentional in imparting and modeling a biblical worldview to our kids, while regularly backing it with logic, history, and science, culture will be their “go to” guide for all things true, good, and right.
