We all know what a trophy wife is and although the term isn’t as popular, the concept of a trophy child may be even more prevalent than that of a trophy wife these days. Rather than humbly considering our children as gifts from God over whom we are to be stewards- too many of us see our kids as chiefs off the old block. Facebook subjects that tell the cyber world just how great we are by virtue of the offspring we produce.

Trophy kids crawl right out of the womb, recite the alphabet at two, and read a Dickens novel at three. However, science affirms that rushing our kids’ natural development can actually be detrimental to them, and embellishing our kids’ development can be detrimental to us.
