Do you have a child who always seems to sleep during church? If it’s not hurting anyone, you may ask yourself if that’s really all that big of a deal.
It may not be hurting someone directly, but sleeping through church certainly isn’t doing any favors for your son or daughter’s spiritual life. Here’s some advice for keeping them awake.
How to Keep Your Child Awake During Church
I’m amazed at the number of parents who think they’re being too legalistic, or invasive, to demand that their kids stay awake during their pastor’s sermon. Consider it an exercise in self-control for Junior. You aren’t being a bad parent for demanding this simple act of respect and discipline.
If Junior just can’t seem to hold his head up Sunday morning, that might mean an earlier bedtime Saturday night. It also might mean no TV or video games the night before. Further, if things become chronic, that’s the time to ask Junior if sleeping through an hour of church is worth the next 167 hours he’ll be without electronics until he can stay awake the following Sunday.
