Do you find yourself condemning certain irreverent comedies or comedians in front of your kids? If so, do you promote or participate in clean or uplifting comedy as much as you criticize rude comedy?
While there are legitimate moral reasons to avoid or criticize many comedies today, I would encourage parents to promote a good sense of humor in their homes. This helps our kids understand that they aren’t missing out on anything and that comedy is much more than a celebrity with a potty mouth.
How to Maintain a Sense of Humor in a Christian Home
When living for Christ, it’s easy to get into the rut of taking everything a bit too seriously. Consequently, Junior sees a world that laughs often and parents who laugh seldom, making the world more appealing than parents in this area.
You know, even if your sense of humor wanes, there are a multitude of clean comedy DVDs that can keep your family in stitches without having to resort to the cheap innuendo humor of network and cable TV. Just go online and take your pick. And though it doesn’t have to be overtly Christian comedy, there are a number of Christian comedians that can have the whole family enjoying each other through the vehicle of laughter. It might just do wonders for your personal sense of humor also.
