The apparent noble pursuit of making our kids the most important thing in our lives could be one of the greatest parenting mistakes we could ever make. As much as we love our kids, putting anything before God himself is an act of idolatry by definition. We all know what idolatry means to the idolator.

Yes, children are a blessing from the Lord, but when the blessings become of greater value to us than the one who actually gives the blessing we put the cart before the horse. This is exactly what many of us have done while raising our kids. Let’s keep the main thing the main thing and watch God’s blessings manifest in our lives and in the lives of our kids.
