Hebrews 12 says that the Lord disciplines those that he loves. Like much in life we need to find the balance between love and discipline. As if love and discipline were mutually exclusive, which they are not. Discipline is a component of love. Proverbs 13:24 basically says that if you don’t discipline your kids you do not love them.

Ask any successful coach, teacher youth leader, and certainly the wise and godly parent. The problem is that in an attempt to mitigate any and all genuine parent abuse we have been groomed by our politically correct culture to swing the pendulum way too far in the other direction. This has created spoiled kids and child-centric homes. Both of which steal joy from the parent and children alike.
