Have you ever considered the positive aspects of both?

Legalism

Today’s children are leaving the church in droves. This is largely due to the spirit of legalism and hypocrisy they see in the church. Let’s face it! It is hard to live a holy life in a world that is marginalizing our faith and throwing evil images and ideologies at us at every turn. Consequently, a strong message of grace has emerged in the church that too easily gets interpreted as license.

Let us examine ourselves, and scripture, a little closer. Though through grace God forgives us and loves us regardless of our failures, we still have an obligation to train ourselves and our children to be godly. That in itself is an act of grace and not an act of legalism.
