Ever wonder why Post Malone seems to break through to your kids more easily than you do? What gives? As their parent, shouldn’t you know how to reach your own child?
We forget the power that music and the arts have over humanity. When words and rules fail, oftentimes, art still manages to break through.
The Power of the Arts
Scottish politician, Andrew Fletcher, once said, “Let me write the songs of any nation—I don’t care who makes their laws.” Humans are moved by the arts far more than laws—shaping the attitudes, appetites, and behaviors that form their worldviews. This is especially true for our kids. So, when Hollywood makes a good movie, which it’s doing with increased regularity today, we’d do well take our kids to see these films.
Films like War Room, Woodlawn, God’s Not Dead, and others being produced today, are having positive effects on kids everywhere. I know this because when we take our Shepherd’s Hill Academy kids to see these movies, we see hearts melt, attitudes change, and a greater reception for the things of God.
