Today’s culture is constantly beckoning our youth to adopt worldly, and even sinful points of view. The question is no longer ‘What would Jesus do,’ but rather, ‘What is most politically correct?’

As parents, it’s our job to prepare our kids to fight the culture. We need to equip them with the Word of God so that they can better resist the temptations of this world.

Today’s Cultural Tide and Our Parental Responsibility

When raising our kids today, keep in mind that we’re competing with our culture. This is a culture vying to shape and procure not only our kids’ values and worldview, but their allegiance also. The “spirit of the age,” or zeitgeist, is exactly that— a spirit-driven force using individuals to draw us away from God’s will and way. Scripture is replete with warnings about this.

In recent times, this zeitgeist has moved from society’s fringes to our media and entertainment venues, educational institutions, and even government. This is why traditional families must become better acquainted with Scripture, and prepared to swim against the cultural tide.
