What is that lost art?

Commitment

There is a dying phenomenon in our world today that needs to be resurrected. It’s called commitment. Divorce is just one of the manifestations of a society that no longer values commitment. When our kids start something we would do well to see to it that they finish what they started. If the saying is true that “half of success is just showing up”, then it is also true that “to finish first, one must first finish”. 

I am not suggesting that we always make our kids finish something that we urged or coerced them into. That often just exasperates our kids. However, when they are trained to finish what they were complicit in starting, we help build character in our kids that will make them more valuable to everyone they encounter.
