Well, sometimes in trying to achieve this ideal, we end up investing more into our jobs then into actually raising our kids. So, while providing is important, let’s make sure we are providing our kids with things that matter.
Why Having More Stuff Does Not Guarantee a Better Life
Too many Christian parents have made good the enemy of best. Is it really good that both dad and mom work full-time jobs outside the home to make a better life for their kids? Most people seem to think so these days, but what does God think?
Perhaps we need to better assess what actually makes life better for our kids! Are Nike shoes, Hollister shirts, extra bedrooms, or the latest digital gadgets really a better life for our kids?
I want to suggest that ornaments without a tree to put them on are futile—it’s style over substance. Moms in particular, don’t let anyone belittle you for investing in our nation’s future by choosing to be a domestic engineer, a politically correct term for being a highly esteemed full-time mom.
