American family values have traditionally been defined by patriotism and religious freedom. Now, it seems that those very values are changing.
Why has there been a shift in values? Where did these changes begin?
Changes in Modern American Values
A recent survey found that the values Americans say define our national character are changing. Wow, did we really need a survey to establish that? So, why is patriotism, religion, and having kids far less important to young people today? For that matter, why were these things ever important?
For the next several days, I’ll share my thoughts as to why our values are changing, and what we can do to help preserve them. My opinion is that it all started with the postmodern thought, birthed in the 1960s, and proliferated via the internet today. Your homework is to Google postmodernism, and then plug it into what I share next time.
