You can teach them, but only if you have them. So how do you obtain both?

Wisdom

Proverbs 19:27 says, “Stop listening to instruction, my son, and you will stray from the words of knowledge.” Proverbs 19:20 says, “Listen to advice and accept instruction and in the end, you will be wise.” These two proverbs together make great memory verses for our kids.

Early on our children need to understand the virtues of gaining knowledge and wisdom and that these are acquired over time. They are usually acquired by accepting instruction- your instruction! This is why it is so important for us as parents to be their go-to counselors. The question remains, have we heeded the wisdom of God’s word that we might be wise counselors to our children?
