THE TRADES – Remember the days when your dad could fix almost anything. And, what he couldn’t, the neighbor’s dad could. In a day and age when jobs, job security, and career opportunity seems to be limited, exploring the trades just may be a teenager’s ticket to a healthy interest, passion, and opportunity for the future. Electricians, roofers, auto mechanics, carpenters, plumbers, and the field of heating and air conditioning, are just a few of the many career opportunities coming available as the baby boom generation begin their retirement years.
Ecclesiastes 5:12 says, “The sleep of the laborer is sweet…” These career options may not lead our kids to the lifestyles of the rich and famous or be the easiest ticket to the American dream; but, they might bring them a wonderful sense of accomplishment, self reliance, and much-needed peace and security, while keeping them from experiencing the American nightmare!
