Living through your children may make them excellent in skill and craft.
But how does that impact eternity?
Imparting Moral Character
We all know the stories of fathers that are obsessed with making their kids the best at whatever. They put golf clubs, baseball bats, or microphones in their kid’s hands before they can barely walk with the hope of bringing Junior to the top of his craft by the time he reaches adulthood.
The result? Excellent golfers, baseball players, and stage performers. But how is the world a better place as a result? What if those same fathers sought first the kingdom of God? What if they took just a fraction of the time working on these obsessive qualities to impart real moral character to their kids? What if they imparted Biblical character that put others first in everything? I think we’d all like to live in that world.
