Do your children help around the house? Do they have specific tasks that they are responsible for? If not, it may be time to start assigning them some responsibilities.
Serve your kids by giving them chores. Let’s work with our kids; not for them.
Why Chores are Vital to Your Kid’s Development
Listen up, parents. If your tendency is to do everything for your child, you’re probably not doing them or yourself any favors. You’re also more likely to lose their respect when they get older.
The Benefit of Household Chores
Sure, our kids have an aversion to work. That’s the carnal nature of our youth. But our carnal nature is not the sum total of who we are as humans. Your children were designed and created in God’s image with a need and desire to help.
Chores actually help our kids by giving them a sense of belonging, identity, self-worth, and fulfillment. Parents, don’t be afraid to push back against our kids push back. We need to push even stronger in the right direction!
Most kids are capable of helping with chores as early as 2 years old. Helping you pick up their toys is often a great start.
