With kids in the house, there will always be something that has the potential to take a parent’s focus away from his or her time with God. Parents may find themselves constantly looking for a more convenient time to pray or study until, at the end of the day, that time never comes.
This is why parents must make it a priority to seek godly insights. When parents intentionally spend time seeking God and reading His word, they set a good example and are better equipped to spiritually invest in their kids.
How Children Benefit When Parents Take the Time to Seek Godly Insights
As good parents, it’s easy to always put the needs of our children before our own—and rightly so in most cases. But realize that putting ourselves before our kids—in some cases—is actually the wisest and most unselfish thing we can do. Take, for example, our responsibility to impart godly knowledge and wisdom into our kids.
If we don’t, first, spend time alone with God ourselves, we will have less to offer our kids by way of godly insights. So when Junior knocks on your door with a non-emergency, don’t feel guilty telling him you can’t respond to him until you are finished with the Lord. This act, alone, will be a spiritual impartation to your child that will reap rewards for years to come.
