In recent weeks, we have seen teengers from around the country seek to resolve issues in American culture. Parents must remember that their children have a voice, and they may want a chance to advocate for or against certain issues.
As parents see the desire for change spark in their children, they would be wise to talk to them about various issues that pose a problem in our culture today. Some of those issues may even need to be addressed in our own homes.
Why Kids Must Have the Right Motives as They Fight to Resolve Issues in American Culture
The Parkland, Florida tragedy has given kids a voice in the public square. This could be a good or a bad thing. In an age where kids will do almost anything to be noticed, it is imperative that we make sure our kids’ motives for engaging in such demonstrations are pure and right.
So have a conversation with your kids about the real issues that are leading to the chaos and violence in our culture to begin with. There is no point in knee-jerk changes in legislation without addressing the real issues at the root of such tragedies. If your kids want to demonstrate, maybe help them organize a rally that holds pharmaceutical companies, the entertainment industry, and silicon valley accountable for the role they might play in so many of these tragedies.
