What your kids think of you should not dictate how you raise them.
So what does?
Rejection
To be an effective parent we would do well to increase our ability to deal with, of all things, rejection. In a time where marshmallow parenting rules the day we need to acquire thicker skin when it comes to losing the approval of our kids for a season. In light of, and despite all the negative cultural influences vying for our kids’ allegiance today, we must still, and always, stand for truth, wisdom, and the moral high ground.
Our kids will challenge our biblical standards with today’s “new morality.” They may even despise us or feel that we’re imposing our outdated morality on them. This is when we have to say, “I love you too much to care what you think about me right now. Case closed.”
