RAISING THE BAR OF EXPECTATIONS – Would you trust your teen to remodel your house? Trace Embry looks at raising the bar on how we raise our kids … today on License To Parent.
Do we challenge our teens to do difficult tasks? I’m not talking about making the bed, emptying trash, or cleaning their rooms. And I’m certainly not talking about attaining the next level of their favorite video game. I’m talking about something that takes them completely out of their comfort zone – like building a new supply shed for the family; or, helping to remodel the house. Many parents today deal with teens who don’t think much of themselves – largely because Mom and Dad don’t expect or demand much. But, history reveals that teens have, and can, accomplish incredible things. It may seem easier just to do things yourself, but then who gets cheated? If you want happier, healthier, and more self-motivated and confident offspring, raise the bar.
