Forgiveness, discipline, and justice all come together for a healthy parent-child relationship.

So how does that work?
Psalm 99:8
With many parents, there seems to be a disconnect in their understanding of forgiveness, discipline, and justice. Especially how all three must work together to foster a healthy parent-child relationship.
When our kids do something or don’t do something that merited disciplinary action, both we and our kids can sometimes think that our forgiveness negates the need for discipline. In some cases, grace might actually be the right call. Yet it is important for us and our kids to know that forgiveness can still be genuine while discipline still needs to be administered. Look at Psalm 99:8. It says this, “You were to Israel a forgiving God, though you punished their misdeeds.” This is justice exemplified.
