The Music Excuse

One reason today’s parents are so tolerant of the absolute poison their kids are being entertained by in music these days is because they are being entertained by similar music themselves. In many cases, they are being entertained by the exact same music.

And even when today’s parents aren’t being entertained by that same poison, they still remember that when they were younger they too listened to some pretty rough stuff. So they don’t feel that they can dictate a standard for the music they didn’t adhere to when they were kids, at least without not being hypocritical.

Hogwash! Just because you made poor judgments yesterday, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t practice higher standards today. And it doesn’t mean you lose your right to be the parent you need to be for your child right now.
