I’m amazed at the number of well meaning ministers who truly believe that the music of Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and others like them is just music. Harmless entertainment that kids will eventually grow out of. But even if some kids do grow out of it, most have grown into it, and they’ve taken our entire culture with them. For example, Super bowl halftime shows now parade as mainstream what used to be considered smut by most Americans. Marching bands and other family entertainment have lost their place. Even science affirms that music has the power to change moods, attitudes, and behaviors, not just in kids, but adults, and entire cultures as well. Your child’s rebellion could be rooted in something as simple as what he is allowed to hear on his iPod.
