The Impact of Music on Your Teen – Years ago, a popular TV show would describe music as having “a great beat” or being “easy to dance to.” But could the music your teens are listening to actually be having a negative impact on their relationship with you and with God? My experience tells me absolutely. Perhaps, the most destructive and overlooked tool the devil uses against teenagers today is what they are being indoctrinated with by way of music. Johann Sebastian Bach said that all music should be for the glory of God and the refreshment of the human spirit. Music is deeply spiritual, and you won’t hear that point argued by your favorite rock or rap star either. But the question remains, by what spirit? If a song can cause us to unconsciously tap our foot, certainly it can cause us to make other unconscious decisions as well, perhaps sinful ones.
