LONGER LEASH – There’s the common notion among many parenting experts, today, that when our kids enter their teen years they deserve a longer leash in an attempt to prepare them for the tough decisions and temptations common to man. But, what some of these experts aren’t considering is that these temptations are common to MAN–ADULTS.
Our kids have the rest of their lives to be tempted by the world. Parents only have 18 years to train them in the ways of God and to help them acquire appetites for the wholesome and healthy things of life. Certainly, there are areas where the leash should be longer; but, parents need to be discerning and not made to feel guilty or over controlling simply because they feel they are doing what Scripture commands them to do-by not causing their little ones to stumble, exasperating them, or provoking them to anger.
