LGBT issues are a popular topic of conversation today. While some sides of this conversation take an extremely politically correct stance on these issues, others are downright hateful in their approach.
With the significance of these issues right now, it is important that parents teach their kids how to engage with these matters and with LGBT individuals in a loving and appropriate way.
How Parents and Kids Should Approach LGBT Issues
Today’s secular mental health field has arguably become more politically correct than scientific when it comes to LGBT issues. Many of us know someone who struggles in this area, yet even to say that a person “struggles” is now politically incorrect because so many today no longer consider LGBT issues a struggle at all. It’s all being normalized.
But good science and Scripture support a gender binary, so our kids should never capitulate to the idea that gender or sex is a fluid thing. By the same token, neither we, nor our kids, should do or say anything that would hurt someone who genuinely struggles in these areas. Rather, we should pray the truth and grace of God in their lives.
