Regardless of your stance on gun ownership, gun control, and other gun related topics, I think there is one thing which most people would agree upon. If you own a gun, you should make sure your kids have a healthy understanding of the weapon.
Parents who own guns should consider teaching their children gun safety. Hopefully, through this exercise, kids will learn to respect the dangers of firearms and also be equipped to use them safely and correctly if need be.
How Teaching Kids Gun Safety can Help Protect Them from Themselves and Others
I often speak about the dangers of digital technology. Now my left-leaning friends would ask why I don’t do the same with guns—especially since America now has more guns than people.
The truth is, neither digital technologies nor guns can harm anyone without a sinful human component in the equation. The same can be said for just about anything—well, anything that involves human choice, including knowledge and education.
That is why I chose to train my children in gun safety at a very early age. They have always known where my guns are stored—locked and loaded. I didn’t childproof my house; I house-proofed my children. I felt it a greater danger to need a gun and not have one than to have one and not need one.
