Today, it seems that gender changes are becoming more socially acceptable than ever before. In some situations, parents are even allowing small children to make big decisions about their gender.
With this new emphasis on finding one’s true gender, our children are surrounded by a new set of confusion. How should Christian parents handle this complicated issue?
Gender Changes
What do our kids think about the ethics of turning a boy into a girl and vice-versa? A scene from the 1935 movie, The Bride of Frankenstein, could offer some wise insight. In the opening scene; the author of Frankenstein, Mary Shelley, played by Elsa Lanchester, shared her reasons why she would write a book about a scientist creating a man-made human.
It goes like this: “My intent in writing Frankenstein was for the purpose of writing a moral lesson for the punishment that shall befall mortal man who dare to emulate God.”
Well, I’d have to agree with her. And when we toy with a child’s God-given gender, we are toying with something that should NOT be toyed with.
