Have you noticed that your child seems to be uninterested or even fed up with church? Are you worried that he or she may be losing interest in a relationship with God as well?
Parents would be wise to seek the true reason why their child seems less interested in church. While a growing lack of interest in God may be the cause, parents should remember that there are other possibilities as well.
Why Your Teen May Appear to Be Fed Up with Church
You may be wondering why your child is losing his or her desire for church. I can’t speak for all kids, but many are just fed up with the shallow and hollow experiences they are having at church. In that case, finding a more genuine church group might be the answer. The good news is that this doesn’t necessarily mean Junior is fed up with God.
The bad news is that it very well may mean Junior is fed up with God. And this usually goes hand in hand with a growing fascination with the world. So without compromising God’s truth, your integrity, or your family’s commitment to corporate worship, find out what’s bothering your child by having a heart to heart about it—one that involves prayer. Then keep praying.
