It is not hard to understand why certain substances like alcohol or nicotine are not good for kids. The brains of young people are still developing, and introducing these substances can negatively affect their growth.
As a parent, you probably know the negative effects of these chemicals, but do you have the same concern about the effects of sex and music on our teenagers? When explored in inappropriate ways, these things can also change the way your teen thinks.
How the Effects of Sex and Music Influence Teenage Minds
When it comes to the phrase “sex, drugs, and rock and roll,” most parents understand that the “drugs” part is dangerous. What most parents don’t understand is how much unbridled sex and rock and roll also mess with Junior’s brain chemistry.
From euphoria to suicidal thoughts and from ungodly attitudes to addictions, both sex and rock and roll, by themselves, when not guided by a biblical worldview, can be as morally and chemically debilitating as any illicit drug.
Few parents ever consider the synergistic effect of sexually charged movies and music on the brain chemistry of our kids. If we did, we would find our kids sporting new and better attitudes about spiritual things.
