Speaking hyperbolically, if there was one thing that you or your kids should consider to be an unpardonable sin in your home it should be the sin of lying. The devil himself is a liar and the father of lies. We are never more like the devil than when we lie. Especially if lying becomes habitual.

Lying breaks down trust and communication among many other things. It is at the root of every evil known to mankind. So if we have a consequence in our home that is considered to be the atomic bomb of consequences, our kids need to know from the earliest stage possible that lying will unleash Hiroshima on their day. Cultivating a safe and healthy relationship with your child will give both you and them a greater assurance that this “bomb” will rarely if ever, need to be dropped.
