Why do different cultures have different tastes and standards for food, clothing, recreation, and moral right and wrong? Why do some cultures love their neighbors while others eat them? It’s because the people of any culture are swayed by the prevailing practices and habits of their culture. Their appetites have become trained.
Without God’s transcendent standard for beauty, right, wrong, good, and evil the prevailing ideas, aesthetics, and appetites of sinful carnal man will prevail! It is important to train our children in the fear and knowledge of God. Without God’s final authority our increasingly decedent culture is more likely to be our children’s final arbiter of truth.
