Trustworthiness not only affects your child’s reputation, but it impacts your family’s reputation.
What reputation do you have?
A Good Name
Remember the days when parents taught their kids to esteem their family name? “You’re a Smith and Smiths don’t do that.” or “You’re a Jones and a Jones always does this.” There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. In fact, it is biblical.
Proverbs 22:1 says, “A good name is more desirable than riches. To be esteemed is better than silver or gold.” I have discovered that those who pursue wealth primarily can often soil their name in the process. However, people who pursue honesty and a good name often end up enjoying wealth! Why? Because even in the secular world people appreciate people who can be trusted. Let’s teach our kids the value of a good name.
