Do you spend time praying in front of your kids? Do you make an effort to pray with your kids or to teach them how to pray?
For parents, praying with children can be a great opportunity to nurture their faith and teach them more about the nature of God. Parents should make it a priority to show their kids how much they value time in prayer.
Why Parents Should Make Praying with Children a Priority
I can’t overemphasize the importance of praying for and with our kids. Kids are wired for belief in God, so it is incumbent upon us to nurture and cultivate that intrinsic trait.
There’s also a sense of security that comes from a child’s faith in God that, when properly nurtured, does wonders for his or her emotional health. There’s a reason that our Lord equated a healthy adult faith with the faith of a child.
Praying with our kids not only strengthens their faith in God, but it also strengthens their faith in us as strong and trustworthy parents who are worthy of emulating. When we pray with our kids, they get to see their earthly authority figures submit to an even greater authority than their parents; this is an exercise in both faith and humility.
