Generally speaking, my stance on smartphones is that they are addictive adult toys and have no place in the hands of kids.

But for those of you willing to push the envelope, at least keep a few things in mind.

First, try to get your kids to think of the smartphone as a wise phone. This puts a subconscious moral responsibility into the equation.

Second, it’s your phone and not theirs. They are borrowing it from you so you will always have access to it. It’s not their private toy. Know all of their log-in information and passwords. You log in for them.

And just know that you’ve added a long and dangerous road to your parenting journey unnecessarily.
