An adult’s temperament is learned as a child.
Take a look at your child; how will they turn out?
Training Patience
What kind of adult will your child grow up to be? One who is impulsive, impatient, and entitled? Or one who is calm, cool, and collected? Proverbs 15:18 says, “A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel.” When our kids are young wise parents rarely give in to their child’s impulsive urges. And if we are quick to bring consequences on our children for whining or acting out when they are told “no” the entitlement we see in so many kids today will never take root.
Your child will learn contentment and patience especially if you offer creative incentives or rewards for waiting. The point is that we do not want to feed into our children’s impulsivity. It is true that good things come to those who wait.
