RETHINKING LOCK-INS – There’s a popular activity that has been going on in youth groups around the country for years. They’re called Lock-ins. Lock-ins are designed to entertain and/or minister to large groups of boys and girls by keeping them confined to a gymnasium or church building all night long. But, considering the fact that so many kids, today, are carrying a virtual Sodom and Gomorrah, called a smart phone, on their hip pocket and having sex by appointment, today, is this still a wise idea for the garden variety Christian teen?
In a weak moment, and at the wrong place at the wrong time, King David made a decision that effected the rest of his life. Since statistics indicate that our Christian kids are every bit as vulnerable to moral compromise as the garden variety heathen, is it possible that parents and youth workers need to rethink their ministry strategy in this area?
