Parents would do well to embrace their role of authority over their teen’s life.
Believe it or not, this may be one reason many teens are insecure.
I’m sure you’re aware that I’m a big proponent of parents having the upper hand in the home. I think it’s not only biblical; but, it’s historical, logical and in my experience, very practical. It’s also emotionally beneficial to kids when they know parents are in tune with God and in check with them.
Kids tell me all the time they wish their parents took more authority over them; because, even they know their own propensity to gravitate toward sin.
This is a security thing for them.
But, it’s a hard thing for parents to come to terms with; because, so many struggle with their kids’ carnal desires. The key word here is carnal. Remember, kids have a spiritual side—and they want us to help them keep in touch with it.
