So, who should we seek out for wise words?

Those Who Know Us Best

While parenting is one of the most joyful parts of our lives, it can also bring some of the most pain that any human can experience. When it comes to the prodigal child (specifically in Christian homes) two common mistakes made are:

1. Not sharing our grief with others in the faith and
2. Not drawing on the counsel of the wisdom of our elders

Scripture tells us to both bear one another’s burdens and to seek the counsel of many. Out of fear of being judged or shamed, we are often too quick to seek professional help from people who don’t really know us or our situations.

Knowing that there is a time for professional help, maybe it is wise to first look to those that know us best and love us most.
