How to Think

Everywhere our kids turn they have someone or something telling them what to think. Media, their schools, friends, the internet, and entertainers are just a few. Where are we, the parents, on that list? Our best chance of influencing our kids on what to think is when we teach them how to think.

So rather than always being the proverbial answer man when difficult problems or moral decisions arise, consider asking your kids, “How would you handle the situation?” Then follow that up with the challenge to express how and why they came to their conclusion. You will be amazed by the logical and biblically congruent answers you will get when you challenge your kids to think through the issues themselves.
