Listen Now: Brain Teasers
While not inherently bad, video games can tend toward causing addictive behaviors in our kids. Help combat this by dusting off the old board games, and spend some real quality time as a family.
How Board Games Can Enhance Brain Development
What many of us have yet to realize is that so many of the video games our kids play are purposely programmed to elicit addiction to those same games. Though it’s a win for the bottom line of the gaming industry, it isn’t so good for our kids’ brain chemistries. This is one reason why we might consider resurrecting games like Chess, Checkers, or Monopoly in our homes.
Don’t forget all the Bible-related games—like Bible Balderdash or Bible Trivia. These games can actually enhance the brain’s capacity for constructive thinking, so why not develop brain cells while having fun? All the while, you’ll be spending quality time with your kids at the same time.
