Do you trust your kids?

Listen Now: Trust Me
Sometimes you should. But sometimes you shouldn’t.
Truth Breeds Trust
So many parents feel that if they don’t trust their kids in every area of life all the time then they must be the worst parents on the planet. Clearly, they are raising the worst kids on the planet, right?
First, too many of us use the term trust in a general way. Of course, generally speaking, we all trust our kids. But when it comes to certain things, we may be wise not to trust them. It doesn’t make you or your kids part of the Manson family for thinking this way. It makes you prudent.
To tell our kids that we trust them with a particular thing or situation when we really don’t is a lie. Nothing breaches trust more than lying. Trust me. Our kids know when they’re being lied to about being trusted. Remember, truth breeds trust.
